You need to meet the blood donor eligibility criteria to join the ABMDR. Click here to see blood donor eligibility criteria set by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service
Complete the consent form to join the registry: When you go to give blood ask the nurse at reception for the ABMDR consent form and complete this form before donating blood.
Donate blood: You will be asked to make a blood donation of 470 mL and an additional 10-20 mL of this will be collected to determine your tissue type.
It is most likely that the next time the ABMDR will contact you will be if you are identified as a suitable match for a patient. But please keep us informed of any changes to your name, address and contact details so that we can find you as quickly as possible if you are a suitable match.
